My Current Obsessions While Preparing For Autumn/Winter Season

Wow! Has it really been 4 months since we've been open for business?! Well I'm just as pumped about TPS as I was back in April. As Summer winds down and Autumn (my favorite season) is just around the bend, I have been diligently making mood boards and collecting inspirations from my favorite fashion magazines, blogs and artwork for some Fall/Winter pieces I think you all will really enjoy.

Want a sneak peek of what I'm currently obsessing over...?

At this point, it's no secret that I'm obsessed with Chinese knick knacks and vintage Hollywood/Hollywood regency decor, but now it's getting out of hand. Thank goodness my sis/roommate is just as interested in these cultures as I am, or she would be sick to death of my posters of old Hollywood actresses, "Feud: Betty and Joan" references and Chinese knot tassels hanging everywhere! In my defense (I'm not a cultural appropriator, I promise), I have been very intrigued by Chinese history and culture for quite some time and I'm hoping to take a few classes in Mandarin and Chinese history very soon.

I absolutely love the way the Chinese infuse their history, art, language and superstitions into everything they do: Architecture, fashion, film, etc. Red and yellow, which represent good luck and good fortune in many Asian cultures, are now all over my apartment and invading my closet. I mean, can you stand our yellow sofa? It's fabulous! The most perfect pop of color! And don't get me started on my love for turquoise (or my recent love affair with pink). I'm a New Yorker, so we wear black as often as possible. But now that the season is beginning to change (both literally and emotionally speaking for me), I am welcoming change, good luck, good fortune and all around brightness into my life! I have been wearing bolder colors, longer nails (which makes crocheting and putting on my jewelry harder, but damn do they look great!), and evil eye jewelry (another obsession of mine) to summon all things good and prosperous into my life, and do away with the negative.

Lorraine Schwartz (turquoise tennis bracelet pictured above) has been killing it for quite some time with the evil eye pieces. I am definitely a fan!

I don't care who thinks my bright colors, my eagle claw-like nails and jewelry stacking is #Teamtoomuch. It's me, and I'm a strong believer in whatever you do, make it you. So...

You know what I'm also excited to try this Fall? Pairing florals and other eye catching patterns and textures with basics/neutrals. I love doing that. Gucci achieved this pairing perfectly with the pre-Fall 2017 campaign. I know florals are typically for the Spring, but I've been purchasing cacti and buying fake flowers for my desk at work for the past God-knows-how-long now. Like myself, succulents are beautiful and resilient ;) I've got to try incorporating the look/texture somehow into my pieces.

Here's to being BOLD this coming Fall and giving a fierce side eye to the haters who only want to see you in muted colors...
